TRY-OUT INFORMATION AND TEAM SELECTION

For players ages 8 to 14 yrs old

 

TRYOUT DATES AND TIMES: Jan 26 & Feb 2, Saturdays…be there 1 hour early to check-in and warm up.

If any one day is rained out, makeup scheduled will be done throughout the week of Feb 11 through the 16.

Time and date will be posted at www.nvll.org and snack shack phone (729-8412).

8-9 year old

TEAM SELECTION:

No tryouts for players 5 to 8 years old and will be assigned to a T-Ball or Farm team. (8yr olds may tryout for a Minor team)

TRYOUTS are required for players 8 years and older to play in the Minor, Major and Junior divisions. Players need to attend 50% of the tryouts in order to be eligible for the draft.

 

NO SHOWS for tryouts:

8 year olds - will be assigned to a Farm team. (Coach Pitch)

9-10-11 year olds – Will not be eligible to be drafted to a Major team. Randomly selected to a Minor team after the draft selections. Players are in-eligible to move up to the Major division at a later time unless…note 1

12 year olds will not be eligible to play in the current season and fee refunded based on refund policy unless…note 1

Note 1: Parent may submit a letter to the board for review as to why player did not show-up for tryouts. If approved player will be become eligible for a minor or major team. Placement on team may have special circumstances.

Parent of a 12 year old may request to have player stay down in the minors. Parent must submit letter to board. After board approval request must then be approve by the District Administer. Request must be approved to play in the minors prior to draft or else see refusal to play. If request is disapprove player must play in the majors.

 

Major and Minor teams will be selected one week after last tryout, Farm and T-Ball soon after. Updates are posted on website.

 

Returning players on a Major do not need to tryout and will remain on the same Major team.

 

Player requesting to be release from a major team must submit a letter of release to the board and be approved. Released player must go to tryouts. If released after tryout a player will be placed on a waiting list till an open position in Majors is available.

 

REFUSAL TO PLAY ON A TEAM: A player who refuses to be drafted to the Majors or request to stay in the Minors (except for approve wavier) will be ineligible for post-season All-star play. Player will also be ineligible to move up to the Majors for the remainder of the regular season. A player in the minors during the regular playing season who refuses to be moved up to the Majors will continue to play in the minors but restricted to play nine defensive outs, may not pitch in any game and ineligible for All-star.
